But, one of the most popular ways to earn extra money is by taking surveys. In today’s post, we’ll be covering a full review of Forthright surveys.
While I don’t consider surveys a way to get rich, you can really boost your bank account a lot if you take them regularly.
Keep reading to learn about Forthright, how you can use it to make money and if it is even a legit way to earn some much needed cash.
“At Forthright, you take surveys, you get rewarded. It’s as simple and awesome as that.”
Forthright is a part of the company Bovitz, a market research company based out of New York that specializes in putting people first. Forthright upholds this philosophy with their own company.
They commit to this by working to pay their participants well for investing their time. And they don’t try to take up too much of your time either.
Formerly, Forthright was called innoPoll but were not successful under that name. The reasons for their lack of success are unknown.
While survey taking is pretty easy in itself, the process behind setting up these survey sites is probably a lot more complicated. Especially when the legitimate companies are trying to stand out from the scammers.
In late 2017 they decided to rebrand themselves as Forthright Surveys. The rebrand is working for them as they are operating pretty successfully since the change.
Forthright Surveys is a standard survey platform. You give your opinion and get paid. Companies are specifically working with Forthright to reach consumers just like you.
Every question has been created with users in mind. Treating survey takers as real people and not just mindless drones at the end of a phone.
Your opinion is then shared with these various businesses so that they can improve upon their products.
Getting Started With Forthright
Getting started with Forthright is really easy. Once you have been approved, you can pretty much start taking surveys right away.
Forthright is absolutely FREE to sign up for. If ever a survey company is asking for you to pay anything, then it’s probably not worth your time. Earning passive income should never cost anything.
With Forthright, you can take surveys on your phone, PC or tablet. I personally love when a survey site gives you multiple access points, that way you can pretty much take surveys anywhere.
When you go to sign up with Forthright, you’ll have to provide some basic information. Which is generally the case no matter what survey site you sign up for.
First up, you’ll need to provide a valid email address. If you are going to make taking surveys a regular thing, sometimes it helps to make an email specifically for this purpose. Otherwise you can use your normal, everyday email.
Then you will be asked for your country, zip, gender, and the year of your birth. From what I can tell you can be thirteen or older to sign up. So this can be a great option for teens looking to make some pocket money.
After that you are all set to go. Your member screen will inform you to confirm your email and that when a survey becomes available, they will let you know.
When your email is confirmed, Forthright will ask for a phone number. They claim this is so they can verify you are a real person and so they can pay you quicker. Forthright promises not to use your number for anything else.
Adding your phone number will also open up more survey taking opportunities. They will be able to text you directly to invite you to take a new survey.
Complete Your Profile
As with any survey site, they are always looking for a certain demographic. That’s how they know to send specific surveys to you.
In order for Forthright to do this, you need to complete your profile. Profile questions may vary.
I was asked about my household, if I had kids under 18 living with me, education level, employment status, ethnicity, family’s national origin, gender, if I am of hispanic descent, my current home, income, single or married, and even if I live in a city or suburbs.
The questions go on for a little bit, so be prepared to share a lot of personal information, though nothing so specific like a home address or full birth date.
One thing I really like about Forthright is the simplicity of their member page.
When you pull up the screen, all of the relevant information tabs are on the left hand side. You should see: Forthright Surveys, Partner Surveys, My Account, My Rewards. That’s it.
Forthright surveys will list all of the available surveys from them, while Partner Surveys will show you surveys from Forthright affiliates.
Your account will show you all of your profile details and the rewards will show you how much is in the bank.
Overall it is pretty straightforward and I have yet to have any issues.
As a caveat, you don’t really need to sign into Forthright in order to take advantage of surveys. They do email everything directly to you, so if you forget your login information, don’t worry.
Making Money with Forthright
The primary way to earn cash on Forthright is to participate in their surveys. You will want to take as many as you can as they become available. Forthright will alert you via email or text when a new one is ready.
Most of the surveys are about 15 to 20 minutes in length. And you can expect to earn anywhere from $1-$3 per survey.
When you get a survey notification, the length of the survey and payment details will be provided up front, so you can decide if it is worth your time.
While Forthright claims you can take as many surveys as you want in a day, in reality you may only get one or two a week, depending on your demographic.
I’ve managed to get several surveys in a day once, but that’s pretty rare. I think I just checked a lot of the prescreen boxes on that day.
For every survey taken you will earn loyalty credits. Loyalty credits are Forthright’s way of saying thank you for participating in their surveys. Even if you don’t qualify for a survey, you will still earn credits.
When you have earned 3 credits, you will get a loyalty bonus of $2.
When you click the Partner Surveys tab, right at the top you’ll see, “Earn $10 Per Day.” The surveys here are available only for approved members. You’ll need to answer additional questions to see if you qualify.
Specifically they’ll ask how you heard about Forthright, when you first started taking online surveys and how much you typically earn per survey and in a month.
Then they’ll ask you about your household income again, gender, year of birth and zip code. Then you just have to wait to see if they approve your account for participation in partner surveys.
Basically they need to see if you even meet the demographic requirements of their partnered survey sites.
This tab is meant to help you earn more during the times direct Forthright surveys are not available.
The surveys will vary in length, and you’ll only be shown the length and reward amount after you’ve been matched to a survey.
Be prepared to go through a lot of screening in order to get to a survey. Often you may not even qualify for any.
And the fine print here states you can earn up to $10 per day with partner surveys, so it is not really a guaranteed thing.
And no matter how many partner surveys you take, you won’t earn any loyalty credits. Those are specifically for surveys provided by Forthright only.
There are several payment options available with Forthright. Directly from your member account in the Reward tab, you can request payout in the form of PayPal, Amazon, Tango Card or Bitcoin.
You could also choose to have your earnings donated to a charity. Forthright supports Habitat for Humanity.
The best part is that there are no minimum requirements and no delays. You can get your money as soon as you earn it.
But fair warning, for non validated members, survey rewards can take up to 14 days to credit to your account. Validated members only have to wait a minimum of 24 hours, but often you get paid instantly upon completing the survey.
Loyalty credits are paid instantly as well, so you could cash out your $2 every time you get it.
And if you take a survey and don’t want to use the cash, you can bank it for later so you can take out a larger sum all at once.
Pros and Cons of Forthright
This wouldn’t be a complete review without detailing the pros and cons of Forthright. Like all survey applications and websites, they have their ups and downs.
- FREE to sign-up
- Multiple ways to earn cash: Forthright Surveys, Loyalty Points, and Partner Surveys
- Cash out any time: no minimum
- Different payout options: Paypal, Amazon, Tango Card and Bitcoin
- Loyalty bonus: It’s sweet to get $2 just for your efforts
- Surveys are emailed versus getting to search for surveys (but this is where Partner Surveys come in handy)
- You go through a screening process with every new survey
- Really mixed reviews of people not getting paid their Loyalty Bonus
- Low payout for surveys taking 20 minutes or longer
Like I said, every survey site has its pros and cons. When you do a search on Forthright, you’ll get some mixed reviews.
You’ll find those that are raving about the payouts and ease of use, while others are complaining about lack of payments.
On a personal level I’ve not had too many issues with Forthright in terms of payment. My biggest complaint has been the frequency of emails. And all the prescreening I have to do.
They really don’t come daily, more like two a week on a good streak or every other week on a bad. Not a total deal breaker as long as you are not depending on Forthright to really make some money.
I think it would take a lot of effort to even use the site as a way to pay off a few bills. I treat it as splurge money that can get me a Starbucks coffee a couple of times a month.
But I do love the loyalty bonus option and that they offer partner surveys too. Though in all fairness I’m often using other survey sites anyway so the partner surveys aren’t totally necessary.
Though it is good to have everything all in one place.
As for the screening process, this gets a bit annoying after a while since you’re answering the same questions over and over.
I wish Forthright would just save your info and skip this step. But it is probably a good thing they aren’t saving your info for security purposes.
Is Forthright Legit or a Scam?
Fortunately Forthright is not a scam. It is definitely a legitimate survey site you can earn real money with.
I would never try to advise someone to use survey taking as a way to say pay their rent or major bills. Think of it as a fun, easy way to earn some pocket money, that you can splurge on lunch or dinner out.
As fun as surveys are, you have to remember that you won’t qualify for every survey sent your way, even though Forthright is emailing you directly.
You will still have to go through the screening process to fully qualify. But if you do, you get to complete the survey and get paid right away, even if it is only $1 or $2.
Forthright is not that much different from other survey site. And while I do like Forthright, there are other survey platforms I enjoy more.
For one thing, I prefer sites that let me choose the surveys. Then I can click through and take as many as I qualify for in one go. Having to wait for an email is tedious and decreases your earning potential.
For that reason, I like to keep several survey sites in my arsenal so I have income coming in from different sources.
I try to stick with sites that allow for an easy and quick payout or ones where the minimum isn’t too high.
Below I’ve listed my top five, but you can also see this article and this article for other legitimate survey sites worth checking out.
Pinecone remains my favorite for a lot of reasons. I like that the payout is always $3, no matter the length. And they really do send you things to test out directly, which is fun.
And even though they also email you surveys, I get them frequently enough that I don’t mind.
I like MyPoints because you get several ways to earn cash all in one site. You can take surveys, watch videos, play games and shop online.
By installing their MyPoints button on your web browser you can earn points as you shop and this has really helped me earn points and quickly.
Like MyPoints, Swagbucks has multiple ways for you to earn money. The best part is that they give you $10 just for signing up.
Surveys are seemingly endless on Survey Junkie. The lengths vary as do the payment amounts, but you can pretty much go all day with this site.
You only need to earn $10 to cash out.
I like that Vindale Research offers interesting surveys that you can feel good about taking. They also are not super long for the payout you get. When you sign up, they give you $1.
Overall I like Forthright and think I’ll keep it on my list of go-to survey sites. Since I have others to rely on, I don’t mind waiting for the occasional email.
If you are new to taking surveys, I think Forthright could be a good starting point. For one thing you don’t have to sit and commit to anything.
You can take surveys as they come, though be mindful that surveys can reach capacity and close, so act quickly.
As long as you think of survey sites as a way to earn some extra cash and not as a full time job, you’ll be fine.
